This article was reviewed by WebMD’s Kathleen M. Zelman, MPH, RD, LD. Also, the site states that Charlene Laino was formerly the founding executive health editor of MSNBC on-line. Heart Health & Natural Weight LossTry a Kinder, Gentler Workout, lists the gentler exercise pursuits as Pilates, Yoga, Elliptical Trainers, and Recumbent Bikes. The article tells how recumbent cycling can benefit heart health, weight loss, and offer less stress to the back. Also, exercise bikes pose a smaller risk of injury as compared to treadmill and jogging. The author warns “...by itself, any of these low-impact exercises is not enough to stay fit...” The article also says the age 55 plus population is choosing gentler exercises as opposed to kickboxing, and other “...joint-jarring activities.” Other advice includes combining gentler aerobic activity, such as walking, with the before mentioned gentler exercise pursuits. The article advises “...a minimum of 30 minutes [exercise and bikes] three to five days a week.” Recumbent Bike ReviewsThe American Chronicle web site published an article, dated 02/03/2008, titled Recumbent Exercise Bike Reviews, by Robin O'Brien, who is their product review author. The article lists what the author considers the best cheap recumbent exercise bikes, best quality recumbent exercise bikes (usually with heart monitors), and her pick for the best bike. The American Chronicle is an online magazine (owner unknown) for national and international news, and feature articles by their writers. They boast 11 million hits a year. Robin lists her pick of cheap exercise bikes as the Stamina Resistance Magnetic Bike and the Weslo 4.5R. Her pick of affordable quality bikes are the Nordic Track AudioRider 400 and the Schwinn231 recumbent Robin’s pick of the best recumbent exercise bikes is the Lifecycle R1 and Tunturi E60R.
